American Shakespeare Center on Tour

Thanks to HLA sponsorship, audiences from the entire Tennessee Valley flock to energetic, interpretative presentations of Shakespearean plays each year. Each winter the critically acclaimed American Shakespeare Center touring company arrives in Huntsville for three performances.

The American Shakespeare Center on Tour (formerly Blackfriars Stage Company / Shenandoah Shakespeare) is a nationally acclaimed touring troupe based in Staunton, Virginia. Performances by this troupe in Huntsville over the past twenty years have been an immense success, and we are fortunate to have this company again in 2020. Known for fast-paced, engaging performances, this company succeeds with audiences ranging from Shakespearean specialists to students of all ages. Ticket sell-outs are common. Free pre-show lectures by UAH faculty members enhance enjoyment of the plays.

All performances will be held at 7:00 pm at Mae Jemison High School, with free pre-show lectures beginning at 6:00 pm.
